Lionel Richie says he is doing well after hospital health scare

Lionel Richie is doing well after the health scare that sent him to the hospital during a June 24 performance in St. Paul, Minnesota, and thanked fans for their support as he pushed ahead with the 2026 Sing a Song All Night Long tour with Earth, Wind & Fire. Richie posted Instagram photos from his Pittsburgh and Detroit concerts and said he was headed to Toronto for his next show.

The scare began at Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul, where Richie told the crowd he felt “dizzy” and “strange” before cutting the set short. During “Dancing on the Ceiling,” he sat down multiple times, and his saxophonist, Dino Soldo, later told the audience Richie could not continue. Paramedics met him backstage before he was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Doctors ordered Richie to rest, forcing the postponement of two dates that had been set for Friday, June 26, in Chicago and Saturday, June 27, in Columbus, Ohio. The Columbus concert was later rescheduled for Oct. 2, and the tour is scheduled to wrap up Aug. 14 in Austin, Texas.

Richie returned to the stage in Pittsburgh on June 30 and also performed in Detroit. Brenda Harvey Richie said Lionel was OK and would be back on stage.
