Russia strikes Kyiv with missiles and drones, killing 11
Russia launched waves of missiles and drones at Kyiv overnight into Monday, killing 11 people and injuring at least 46 as a residential building in the city’s Podilskyi district partially collapsed. Rescue crews pulled residents from shattered buildings while Ukrainian officials kept search-and-rescue operations under way, warning the casualty count could rise as teams worked through the debris.
The damaged building in Podilskyi was reduced to a jagged shell. The bombardment also struck other parts of the capital, and the night began with repeated air raid alerts and ended with crews searching through rubble for survivors.

It came just hours after President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that another large-scale attack was imminent, and it landed on the eve of the NATO summit set to begin on July 7 in Ankara, Türkiye. Allies were preparing to announce new support commitments, especially for air defense.

The attack also followed another deadly Russian assault on Kyiv on July 2, when at least 31 people were killed and more than 100 injured. In that strike, rescuers found the last victim beneath rubble in the Darnytskyi district on July 4, while crews were still finishing recovery work from the earlier bombardment.
