     The Swaledale City Council approved their budget for fiscal year 2016-17 during their regular meeting on Monday, March 7.

     Minimal changes were made to the budget compared to the previous year in most areas, with the one exception being the amount budgeted for Debt Service and Community and Economic Development.

     With their debt paid down, the city no longer needs to allocate $12,000 per year on debt service, as they have in recent years. At the same time, the new budget has more than doubled the budget for Community and Economic Development, going from $2,200 to $5,700.
